Blown alternator

people keep telling me the 300 amp alternator is too big, but if the hk4000 amp can draw 289 amps, wont i need a alternator that can put out more than what the amp will ask for?

No such thing as an alternator too big. No such thing as loud enough. Not such thing as too much money or a girl too pretty.
