Blown 9515 what happened?

dont guess u understand what a clipped wave looks like do ya //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I sure do and I know what it consists of as well; a single fundamental frequency and it's higher order harmonics, aka all AC signal. There is no DC signal present.

There is no magical effect behind clipping or any real mystery; physics dictates the real world and AC power travelling through wire wrapped on a former is pretty easy to understand in my opinion.

yes not saying it isnt ac.. just saying , like snoop says, it appears to look like a dirty dc wave .. dirty power = dead sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This concept is flawed. A speaker sees power and power only. The obvious disadvantage with a clipped signal is that it carries more average power over time, but if this average power over time is equal to the amount of a different sine wave, the same amount of damage will be caused; if this average power is below what the speaker can dissipate, there will be no damage at all. A certain understanding of crest factors relative to input power is an important factor in determining what damages a driver.

I had it in 3.5 at 33. I had it in the same box tuned to 40 but thought it was tuned too high so I cut the port area down to tune it to 33. I understand I should have just made a new box but I was about to leave to college so I didn't have the time. I have the box facing forward in my Taurus with the box sealed off from the trunk because I absolutely hate the ghetto rattle. One of the problems is is with the seats folded down it is way loud but when I blew the sub the seats were up and it is noticibly less loud. I think I may just make a new box with the right port area and have it facing the taillights. I will be easier on the gain though they weren't up very high with no bass boost or loudness on my deck. Now the question is how do I get the coil out of the gap?

Digital Designs 9515D I bought it used a few months ago. I now have the cone and spiders cut but the coil won't budge. No thanks on the offer though I am going to get it reconed probably to a dual .7 it was dual 1.

we had to use a PICK on some coil saturday. (9515 vid)

the pole vent isnt a straight piece of metal, there are grooves and valleys all in there for cooling. Pop the dustcap too and maybe with a flashlight you can see what's going on.
