Bloody Monday: 50k laid off today

im with guins..ive applied to over 24 places since being laid off november 14th from Ideal. ive had 9 interviews and 4 second interviews.im willing to even work for 8 dollars an hour cus my girlfriends gets paid good enough to support us well right now.

I cant move to the place with jobs if i have no money to pack up and just move. not to mention first last and security any place i choose to live in, since I cant afford a house. It's all one big downward spiral.

so yea, ill take any ****in handouts. im ready to work today if i got offered a job. im trying by phone, email, walk-ins, connections, networking and the like. its a hard market, even for entry level jobs.

We are no where near the worst it has been. Go talk to your grandparents, if they are old enough, about the great depression. I'm thinking a lot of people in suburban America are in for a rather rude awakening.

This always isn't gospel, but if you are busy at work not just doing fluff work or screwing off your job is probably not in too much peril.

A lot of people, including myself, view this as a good time to trim the fat.

I make 10 an hour. They start you off at 9. How much lower you think theyd actually go? I dont think anyone would bust there *** off like we have to do for 7 bucks an hour...

I'd work fast food before no job. But then again, all I support is myself. I am not sure if I could convince a child they may need to skip a meal because daddy can't find a good job. I hope I am never in that situation.

Sorry, does that article say the GDP will see growth by the 2nd quarter of 2009? Most of the information I've seen so far talks about recession until at least the 1st quarter of 2010.

I love how microsoft has been lobbying for tons more H1B visa's to fill a "void" of needed tech workers, yet they are laying off 5000 people.

I wonder how many cheap H1B workers they will keep while laying off American workers. I also wonder where this void of tech workers is if they have to lay off 5k people :cornfused:
