Blew my amp... what happened?

Hi everyone. I'm somewhat new to this board. First off, I'm pretty sure i blew my amp. It is a Rockford Fosgate 500db, Mono i believe. I have 2 Kicker Solobarics L7s powered by this amp. I had this set up for a few months, and about once a week my fuse under the hood would blow. The installers used a cheap regular fusing as opposed to a glass fuse. So after replacing that dumb 40 fuse a crapload of times, they put a glass one in. So last week I was hitting pretty hard , than all of a sudden nothing.. What the heck happened? Too much power coming from that amp? If my fuse kept blowing before, why? Did my amp blow because i put a higher fuse that maybe wasn't supposed to be in there? Was it running at 1 Ohm? I know that amp isn't 1 ohm stable.. was that why it blew? i don't know if I was running parallel or series.. My subs are 4 ohm if that means anything.. I'm pretty new with the install process. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Those solobaric's are dual voice coil subs. Are they 4ohm per coil? If so, then that is why the amp blew....they more than likely wired the subs to 1ohm. Also could be due to improper gain and/or bass boost settings, causing the amp to clip. Any one of those would also account for the fuse constantly popping.

Either way, it definitely sounds like user/installer error. If you had this "professionally installed", I'd definitely be asking questions such as how they were wired (or, inspectigate this on your own), where the gain was set, where the bass boost was set, etc etc.

The gain was at about 65 - 70 %. The subs have been wired the same exact way for a while. I had them in my old truck with a different amp tho.. heres the thing also.. i have the stock BOSE system, so i had to buy a PAC OEM and run the RCA cables from there (stock amp under console).. could this cause anything? So now, would you recommend another MONO amp? What kind of amp would you recommened? I am willing to spend around 400 for a good amp.. ive never had problems with a 2 channel amp ever. Also should I re-wire the subs? Thanks a lot.. OH and I really like the KX1200.1 ... will this amp be ok at 2 ohm Stereo/ or even 1 ohm stereo?

oh yea.. on the box package it says "4 ohm".. so idont know if that is per coil, or both..

also on ONE sub, i criss-crossed the pos/neg and it hit way harder than the pos going into the pos, and the neg goign into the neg.. why is this? the lead from the subs coils that go into the housing where I plug in the speaker wires from the amp is correct.. thanks
