I was on the interstate coming home so i decided i was going to bump to

Magic Mike - Feel the Bass IV

well i had my car shaking alright and my bass sounded clear as could be

then before i got home i stopped at a gas station my system was working

perfectly when i got out the car i go in for a minute come out start up

my car then turn my radio on and NO BASS!

i was so pissed but i couldn't do anything in the neightborhood i was in

so i waited till i got home and i checked everything, i thought my crossover

had switched over to hpf or something but it wasn't... so i turned on my radio

and went to the trunk and i heard it, the sub was rattling horribly this sux

I just bought this sub about 2 months ago (april 4th) does any1 know

how much it will cost for a new VC? TIA

BTW: It's a RF Punch Stage 1 12" i know its a POS but its perfect for my

the SQ great and it gets a averagely loud with little power

sure did, i used a 45 hz test tone and using my volt meter i set it at 28v AC which at a 4 ohm load would be feeding the sub 196 watts? the sub is rated 150 rms and 300 peak so i thought it wouldn't hurt it but i was obviously wrong

You would have to get a new one probably. Take a look at an infinity kappa 12.3, or perhaps an old alpine type r. Both subs can play pretty loud with low power applications, and would have much better sq then the rockford. Also forgot to mention a pg octane 12.

alpine type R for sure.

please dont buy rockfords lower lines, ever. those subs are total garbage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

if i have to i will go with a new sub but i thought it would probably be cheaper to get a new vc and do it myself. i don't really want to go with a new sub since i have 2 of these but if that's what's got to be done then so be it

alpine type R for sure.

amen, I blew up some punch z's back in the day, lasted about 20 minutes, lol

ended up switching to some type-r's

BTW your not going to be able to chance the voice coil out yourself at home

go with a memphis pr124.....I seen a memphis rep with 4 of those ported with 100 watts per sub do a 145 pretty impressive for 400 watts of power ....and they are only about 100 bucks......but if you want to port it the box has to be atleast 2 cubic ft..

I have 200 watts goin to both of my p1s and so far nothings gone wrong.

FYI- Stay away from the pheonix gold octanes, we sell them at my shop and have had to replace every sub we sold due to tinsel lead failure and dust caps falling off.

Suggestions-

Alpine type R- Strong performer good SQ

Kenwood KFCW3009 - Sound great in a ported box, 200watts rms, dual progressive spiders, low pricetag, we have never had a costomer blow one yet.

Pioneer TSW-306C - Tried and true budget performer that sounds great with with small power applications and high quality construction.

Don't the internet models like Adire, ED and RE have entry level subs that cost about the same?, I personnally would love to have some of their stuff after everything I've heard about them.

Yea I ment to put the octane zrs. I will admit the octane r has some problems, but the zrs tinsel leads are much stronger. I never knew the dustcaps fell off on the r's though. Pg needs to address their entry level subs, but the rest seem to be great.
