birch as pool table surface

so our pool table happened to come with 2 sheet of MDF as the playing surface. a few corners are easy cause all the balls within a few inches of it roll right in. same goes for one side of the table. its cause people sit on it at parties or while playing. we call it crazy pool, cause anything can happen haha. but im thinking i can just take it slightly apart (we put it together)so i can replace the mdf with birch. a much stronger wood torsional wise.

and yes im biased cause i prefer a box made out of birch rather than mdf:yumyum:
