biggest waste of a driver

no it sounds like *** for the amount it costs. i went to my local "audiophile" place around 7 to pick up my dad's cones cause the guy is goin on vacation and wanted me to get 'em b4 he left, and he told me to "be amazed" by listening to some diana krall w/ klipsch towers and this thing....pay me the cost of the sub and i'll consider it (wasn't the plexi one, it was the black one).

I have a velodyne (F-1000) that I paid over $900 for back in '94. It is servo controlled and sounds superb with music but lacks in the high impact movie soundtracks.

Most servo subs are like that. I've got two HUGE servos from concert hall that I removed when it was getting renovated. Up till that point it only did orchestral in there.. which sounded AWESOME through those subs.. but as soon as you try to run a kick drum through them or any other fast bass for that matter.. the servo's cant keep up and it sounds like poo.

No problems here......and I'm going on 12 years of running it.

It's hardly a waste.

Each driver has it's own limits and characteristics.

Velodyne has always been extremely high end and top notch quality.

I'd suspect that operational error was the problem causing less than stellar performance.

In fact, I'd suspect that long before the driver itself, given Velodyne's reputation and history.
