So last quarter, I had to buy a brand new book for my sociology class. $129.00 later, I had the 900 page book, out of which we covered two chapters in the class.

So I go to sell the book back, and the school is no longer buying it back. Im telling you, the mafia has their hands all over this. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

So, heres the new plan- since I take online courses, and can work as fast/slow as I want, Im going to finish all my classes within month, so I can return the books, and they cant deny the return, according to their own policies.

Just wanted to vent a little.

books ftl

x2.

I understand that advances of importance are made in the social sciences over the course of a three month quarter.

But, are enough advances made that are worthy of being taught to college students, taking the course as an elective?

Hell, lets be honest- 10 years from now, I wont remember anything I learned in the class.

Somehow they can justify releasing new versions where the only differences are fixed typos and renumbered homework problems so if you use the old book its a pain in the ***, its fun. Last year I spent about 600/semester although this summer and this fall I won't have to pay a dime so woohoo

I'm a litle offended with the "down the road" "across the street". Not extremely offended just makes me think of my freinds mom who slit her wrists. Not somthing I like to joke about.

I agree. Thats the whole problem with "higher education". companies want you to have a phd, but pay you 8bucks an hour cause once again you dont have enough experience. to get the "higher education" its expensive and books are hella high and most cannot get help. i personally dont get any assistance & i make a whole 35K a year, which isnt bad but since i'm a single white male i dont get any help, BUT i can finance my education, so when they hand me a diploma they also hand me a 12K bill. its the system, thats why back in the day dr's would get loans and then go into bankruptcy, know you cant do that..... amen to you venting, and best wishes w. your education
