Big subs, small ported boxes

Saw the contralto question. I'm running one in 5 cubes with two 6" aeros and tuned to 27hz on a bc2000 and did 143db at 26hz amd 140db at 21hz. Built box big with lots of port to be a djsnt decaf monster. But I will be building another box that will be right at 4 cubes with a little less port tuned to 30ish or maybe 2:1 4th order. This thing gets low with authority but thinking smaller box and less port would help a better bandwidth though. At the moment I can play from high teens to 40hz good but rolls off hard 40hz and up. Overall personal opinion is a great sub. Not trying to say get one but just wanted to throw in my opinion since not a lot of people are running them yet. Plan on running one more and about 5k to them in the near future if I can get another bc2000 for a decent price or a encore 4.5k. Keep us tuned in on that build with a lot of pics, I'd like to see how you like that tuning and box size. I'm sure it could get pretty loud then too

If you need an amp, adulbrich got his new ones a few days ago, so he should be ready to sell them pretty soon. If you have the elec. for a big amp, might be the way to go...

$600 on subwoofer. More than likely a Ts 1.8kw

so about 2 kw at 1 ohm. Id look at the sundown X series. alittel more efficent than the Z4 and alittle better lowend than the Z3.

the ID maxes in the past where great woofers. i liked them better than the w7s.

the Crescendo CONTRALTO would be bad *** in about 3 tuned to 28.. Id probably go with that. softer spider so it will have a better senstvity for the power in such a small box..

more so than the sundown woofer..

the 15 sound be abit louder. the id maxes sound excellent though. i think if you like the IDs you wil really like the crescendo woofer. its a nice driver that looks like it will sound great by design..
