//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif ok my friend had a box built for his ranger. it is a wedge style box. i went to this website http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp#por and typed in everything. the box came out to be .692 cubic feet with a port tuned to 62 hrtz. can someone double check for me.

the demensions according to the sites is

width=30 inches

height 1=7

height 2=4

depth is 12

and the thickness of the wood is .75 inches.

it came out to be .69.... cubic feet. and if thats the case then could that be the reason that my friends sub has already messed up twice inside of the box. i also typed in the port calculations with the box volume of .69 and came out with the port being tuned to 62 herts.

the port measurements were 3.75 diameter and 8 inches long. anyhelp would be nice

lol about a month. he doesnt know any better. and i always figured it was suppose to since it was in a single cab truck. it sounded hollow to it. it was weird but it was loud in the 40-50's hrz so i figured it was ok. but when it came to lower stuff it sounded just weird like the sub was dying trying to produce it. i was curious at how much room the m3 would need over the pice of crap planet audio that was in there before hand. Could that also be the reason the planet audio didnt last long? the box being too small?

If it was tuned to 64ish hz it shouldn't even be playing notes at like 35 and below, I'd def. take it back to the shop. I dont think even SPL competitors tune that high.

x2, i'd throw it through the shop window w/a not reading "fix this"....lol jp, but def. take it back.

i remeasured the box

heigth 2 is 4.25 inches instead of 4 so that increased the volume to .7 but i still didnt get 1 cubic foot. Im pissed. so is that a reason why the planet audio would play for about 2 weeks then after 1/2 volume would cut in and out?

yea i know. ok so someone lay it down for me. can high tuning and too small of a box destroy a sub. cause if so we are going to take it back to summer sound and make them pay us back for the sub shipping for building a box for a subwoofer they sell and were more than happy to build a "awsome" box for...

i try a website program and it gave me the vol you mentioned, but those programs have some error cause if you calculate asuming the minimal height that is 4.25 and you multiply 4.25x12x30 = 1530 in3/1728in3 = you get 0.89 ft3. plus ading the triangle you get 30x12x(7-4.25)/2 = 495in3/1728in3 = 0.29 ft3, after displacement of port you get about 1 ft3

yes, those tunings are use by proffesionals how know what they are doing, but you can change the tuning just changing the port. With a 3.75" x 20" you get about 35 hz

but dont u have to account for the size of the wood?
