big 3 WTF

So I finishing up my big 3 setup. I had the grounds done and was waiting for the fuse holder to do the positive. My alt is a one wire alt sinces its a classic. I've blown 3 fuses right when I touch the positive end to the battery. Tried a 200 amp fuse and almost fried my electrical, smoke and all ****. I checked the wire and there is no slices or any wire showing anywhere. Could my alt be bad? Witht he car off there is no power from the big 3 wire from the alt to battery, that is with the wire not touching the battery. So confused....

well when the new wire from alt to batt isnt touching of course your not gonna get any power. the power if still coming from the oem wiring

I know that power shouldn't be from the new wire unless its connected to the battery. Just mentioning that the problem isn't there

So you are saying that everything worked fine before and after you installed bigger/better wire there is a problem? If so, that only leaves one thing...............

Was no bigger better wire, just added the pos bat to alt pos. Either I'm grounded somewhere or an alt prob

Well remove what you did so you can at least drive it. Figure it out later.

it sounds like you are grounding out the power wire on the alt case and the power from the battery is blowing the fuse/frying the wire
