big 3? while going from altenator to battery do I make this connection first then put

When going from altenator to battery do I connect each terminal first and then put the fuse in the fuse holder last, after both terminals are connected, or does it really matter just as long as the fuse is in the holder Im safe doesnt matter what order as long as I make the negative connection last. Confused a little I dont want to start a fire or blow anything up..... the fuse connected already from my stereo to my battery doesnt hold a charge once disconnected does it? Or am I making this too complicated....

I usually make all the connections to the car first and run the wires to the battery. Then I make the connections to the battery last. It really shouldn't matter how you do it as long as the + wire from the battery to the alt doesn't get grounded.
