Big 3 Help....Really stuck here....

Sorry I don't have pics right now but i'll explain....

Ok, i did the 2 grounds of the big 3 with ease....then i go to do the alt pos to batt pos and am completly stuck....I have a 97 Ford Expedition...First i didn't have the right tools so it took me forever to take the nut off...then when i finally got it off i realize the post isn't long enough...is there some way to extend it or should i trim the plastic off of the factory connector....theres about 1/4" that i could trim off and give me more room...I know that i don't want to trim too much to avoid grounding it out...

Or is there a way to split the wires? So i wouldn't have to connect both terminals? I could just do the new 0awg and put a distroblock after?

K so went ahead and trimmed the plastic and it still doesn't fit....

I had plenty of room to add the big 3 wire to my alternator post.
