Best style vehicle for bass?

I'm in the market for a new ride. Wanting to spend $20K or less. It must be 4 or 6 cyl. (not 8 because of high gas prices). I prefer Honda, Nissan, Toyota & Hyundai.

I have (2) JL W7 12s powered by (2) JL 1000/1s.

I currently own a 4-door Accord & have the (2) 12s firing towards the rear. The bass is nice, but my truck rattles BAD. VERY annoying. I've tried firing woofers forward in this car & was not as impressed with their performance as I was with them firing towards the rear.

I need your opinions. Should I go with an SUV & fire them towards the rear? If so, what's an appropriate-sized SUV for the 3 cu ft. box required for the 12s? And how much space should I give the woofers from the rear of the SUV?

Or perhaps a king-cab truck (with removing the back seat)? If so, again, which appropriate-sized truck? And how should I fire them? Down? Towards the rear? And again, how much space should I give the woofers from the closest surface?

Or a different vehicle?

A pair of ID CD2 Neo Mini horns & a pair of Dynaudio MW170s

7" midrange/midbass drivers will be installed as well. So I'll need ample room to install these drivers.

Your opinions? Thanks!

Details please.

How much space should I give the woofers from the rear of the SUV? As much as possible? Or is there a specific length that works well?

i have an acura rsx ...

has the biggest trunk for a hatchback that i know of .. and gas is very friendly to me =)

also the rear fills are 6.5" with a nice amount of space behind it and you can still put a mdf spacer infront

the front speakers are pretty bootleg though ... they clip into the door but 5 1/4 will fit into the hole

i have 6.5 so i had to cut away at the door or you can get mdf rings

oh and it comes stock with 1" tweeters in the front dash you can replace

ive done quite a bit of fiddling with 1 - 12W7 in my explorer.
i say 2.5 cubes @ 35ish hz is about the best.
Where precisely have you pointed the woofer for optimum performance? Towards the rear? And how far from the closest surface?

I have heard many nice setups with the subs firing up, ports toward the rear. That is the next thing I am going to try.

Get a 2001 Chevy Tahoe and buy my two 15" L7's and box thats custom made for a tahoe with the chevy logo on top. That will be very very loud, a lot louder than the W7. But it doesn't sound near as good as the dub 7

My 92 Civic hatch got loud as sh!t with only 2 12's and 500wrms in a 4 cube box tuned to 34hz. IMO hatches are the best and then SUV's but those things are mammoths. A Blazer or other mid-size would be nice. Just dont get an Explorer... those things are FUGLY!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I checked out a pic of the rear area of the CR-V. It's too tiny for a 3 cu ft. box plus 3 large amps plus accessories.

I drive a Honda & would love another one, but the CR-V is just too small.
should be plenty big. 3cuft isn't much. i could fit the box +amps +spare batt in trunk of car. unless you wanted room for groceries then i guess i'd go with a tahoe or burban(mid-late 90's)

I just know how much room my system is currently taking up in the trunk of my '98 Accord & it's a LOT. I barely have room for anything else.

I guess in order to have this system & be able to have room for groceries & luggage on vacation, I'll have to go with a Blazer, or the like. I really would like to stick with an import. American vehicles break down much sooner & more often.

Thanks. I've owned a Dodge Daytona & the hatch made some subtle nasty noises, albeit not like a trunk.
How does the RSX's hatch hold up under serious SPL?
its all about how good someone can install it
