Best SQ amp 100x2 for a/d/s/ 336is tweets

I need an amp, 100X2 for my a/d/s/ 336is tweeters. Right now I have the comps powered by an Elemental Design NINe.2x which is 200x2 but the tweets are too bright and I have no way to turn them down.

So I would like to bi-amp the comps using the a/d/s/ passive x-over. I thought about using my 880PRS's built in option where you can change the f/r to front's only but I trust my a/d/s/ x-over more then the head units.

regardless, I thought of getting the ED NINe.2 which is 100x2 but worry about the brightness as is with the 2x. I am looking for something with a warmer sound, kind of like my old school PQ series a/d/s/ amps had. Is the NINe.2 any warmer then the .2x?

any help would be great for an idea of the best amp for my tweeter powering needs. pics of my system now below

I would rather use the HU's xover. go active, run the tweets off the HU, and have major watts for whatever mids I have.. but that's just me.

I'd never run anything off the HU power,
why not?

I was skeptical at first.. tried it, and it works fine. Plenty of power for tweets, since are usualy have high sensitivity.

Also active HUs apply all settings to the speaker outputs...

I agree with James on this one, kind of the old phrase "less is more". Since the tweeters are too bright for your taste with your current amp and since your HU has all that active abilty, I would try it and see.

If your still not satified, at least you didnt have to spend the money on a new amp you cant use, plus you can always go back to your orginal plan to pick up something to push the tweeters.

Dynamic headroom. The HU "amp" lacks pretty much any. The level of distortion coming from it even well before clipping is also horrid.
On one of the installs where I hooked up the tweets to an active HU (9835 with blau vc100 tweets), the tweets had to be attenuated ~6dB. I would say it has headroom.

The Sundown would be my first choice over the ED NINe.2. I would'nt power the tweets from the HU. The high's are the most unforgiving of the spectrum and are the most important part of SQ. Plus I really want the gain control of an amp to help seperate the mids and high's.

really, what else is there other then the Sundown 100.2 or ED NINe.2 ? I could go back to an old school a/d/s/ but I want something a bit newer to match my current equipment. Right now I think I have a pretty good ballance of power to SQ with what I have so far:

880PRS

ED NINe.2x front a/d/s/ 336is

Orion 6002 rear doors a/d/s/ S8's

Orion 2500D 2- fi 10's

The NINe.2 would of course match my NINe.2x but I think the Sundown 100.2 has the NINe.2 beat for build for running just tweets.

...but to each his own.
I agree with that, I used to sell Hi-end home audio (McIntosh, Krell, Golden Tube Audio...) and each person that walked in the store would hear different Nuances with the same system.

With that, the higher in the sound spectrum you are the more important clean sound is, as it is less forgiving. As you get towards the sub, you could power it directly from a wall outlet and it will still sound good. That is an over exaduration but you get the idea. Tons of somewhat clean power to the lows and warm extramely clean signal with minimul power to the highs.

and I just GOTTA say this....
