Behringer RIP List...

A lot of people on here just LOVE Behringer. I don't understand why (I guess it is because it is so cheap), BUT this is not going to be a thread where I argue about Behringer Products. I am simply going to list in posts the products that I have own/installed/used/or seen used personally which have gone to a better place for sound equipment. A place where every speaker has a reasonable impedance response, power input is pure and clean, and the user doesn't ask too much from the different sounding inputs...

Anyway...I will be updating shortly...

Just a note... Not all of their products are bad. And not every unit I have used has these problems, but many do...

The first on the list is the Multicom Pro-XL MDX4600...

I have seen about 8 of these units have issues I have seen have the following problems.

-Hums

-Buzzes

-Random Pops

-A VERY audible and noisy compressor

-Flames (personal favorite, right out the back of the 1/4 inch in jacks)

-Meters that are completely off

-Channels that sound completely different...

Number 2 on the list is the Composer PRO-XL MDX2600...

Problems are as follows:

-6 Dead On arrival from Behringer.

-Noisy

-One Channel works when the other doesn't (2 units)

-Sounds generally terrible when compared to 'reference class' equipment... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

-1 Blown speaker in a install because the compressor wasn't compressing even though it said it was...

Next is a Autocom PRO-XL MDX1600 the "Interactive Reference-Class" Compressor/Gate/Expander/Limiter

Problems:

-Sounds GOD AWFUL vs a real compressor Drawmer/dbx/KT

-1x Power Supply decided to commit suicide.

-2x Stopped Compressing... Everything else worked except the compressor...

-With 2x inputs signals (1k) driven from the same source the meters will be 10-30db off...

The next is one of my personal least favorite pieces of sound equipment...

The Ultracurve Pro DEQ2496

Problems:

-Noisy as all get out.

-Will Squeal randomly.

-When you adjust the EQ +-3db you might really be adjusting anything from .5db to 20db in the opposite direction.

-Digital inputs never work right.

-Ghost changes in settings.

-Gate will turn on when ever it feels like it.

-Terrible RTA

-Auto EQ doesn't EQ flat but more in a smiley face shape.

-Frequency Labels are off. (adjust 1k and it probably isn't close to 1k)

Keep in mind a few things. Behringer has alot of product on their website.

From what I've seen in the DIY audio world, these are the popular Behringer

products.

Amps;

1. EP2500 {QSC RMX2450 amp clone}

2. EP1500 {QSC RMX1450 amp clone}

3. A500 {Alesis RA500 amp clone}

Signal Processors;

1. DCX2496

2. DEQ2496

3. CX2310

4. Feedback Destroyers

I count 7 products that have been used.

Out of those 7 products, the most popular ones are;

1. EP2500

2. DCX2496

3. DEQ2496

4. Feedback Destroyers

That's the 4 products that are very popular in DIY audio.

Using Behringer for home audio applications is a different scenario than

using Behringer for pro audio applications. Two different worlds and

pro audio is a critical application where the show must go on therefore you

should invest in a better brand for the long term. But out of all Behringer

products shown on the website, only four are common in the DIY world because

they are proven to work well for the money and nobody needs the other

products you mentioned.

It's your money, spend 2x more and change brands if you want.

The only Behringer that I own is the DCX2496.

I like RMX2450, but it won't be used in my serious home audio installs. Even QSC and Crown

has product that is not intersting to me. Don't act like those two companies are golden because

they have their own drama and 'marketing scams' on the public.

How much did you pay g00b to change your name?

I just wanted some continuity between my name here and on the other forums...

i have two behringer bass effects pedals.

i have one bx4500h behringer bass head.

i have one 60 watt bass combo 112 behringer.

i have one vamp pro bass processor by behringer.

i have one 210 bass cabinet as one of my backups made by behringer.

i have a ep2500 as a slave power amp for my big bass cabinet.

granted i dont use my behringer gear much at all really, except the power amp, the only thing that has failed is the 60 watt combo and thats because i treated it like it was garbage alot like 3 years ago.

for the money behringer beats others.

I would go with a sealed under the seat box. Perserves your space, and I'm sure you can get the sound you want.... Good luck.
