Battle Of The 500RMS 12's

I was wondering what you guys thought of these subs and which one you would choose, or think is the best all round sub(SQL). I Plan on only running 1. I Do plan on Giving Them atleast 800RMS and be put in the Spec'd Ported Box. Also these are all Dual 4's, and I belive they can be wired for a finally res. of 1 am I wrong?

The Alpine Type R would most likely be more suitable for 800WRMS, not saying the others can't take it. But, it's been proven that they can take a lot more than rated for. You'll only get a final loud of 2 ohms with a single dual 4 sub. You'll have to get the dual 2 ohm versions for a 1 ohm load.

Dual 4 wiring is either 2 or 8 ohms

Dual 2 wiring is either 1 or 4 ohms

Probably not as loud as the ones listed, but they are all known to have great SQ and they are cheap too

If you're running two (which it sounds like you're planning on it), then yes, dual 4 ohm is what you're looking for.

from what I see I would get the type R 12". It can handle 1000rms with ease. I had a pair with two mtx 1501d on each@ 1ohm. So type R will probably beat others and for sure handle the 800 like champ

Hayn, I would definetly go with MTX. They have won countless competitions and awards, from SPL to SQ. Have you checked out MTX's website ? I really haven't heard about Alpine winning any competitions. Rockford Fosgate is good, but out of those three MTX all the way.

Thats a nice subwoofer Connersdad, just make sure you don't purchase it from onlinecarstereo.com . Have you guys checked out their record on the Better Business Bureau yet ? They have over 80 complaints from customers last time I checked, like three weeks ago ! I would much rather go with Woofersetc.com, Crutchfield.com, or BestBuy.com they have much better reputation. Woofersetc.com has the BBB logo and I think they are a member of the BBB.

To the OP, I would go with a RE SE 12. The rms is 600, it'll take 800, it hits the lows well and sounds decent.
