bass levels out...

Quick question guys...I stuck a new setup in my truck and all is well except for one little thing. First off I have 2 12" powerbass subs S-12t and a mrv-m500 alpine amp in a Atrends custom box under the rear seat of my Dodge Ram. I want to keep my factory head unit because I paid extra to have the Alpine Premium sound system when i bought the truck. Now my problem....at lower volume levels on my head unit the subs sound good but when i turn my volume up it seems as though my subs/bass has leveled off and does not get any louder. I assume this is from the factory head unit that has a protection mode in it so it wouldnt blow the factory subwoofer and I'm wondering if there is a way around it without replacing my radio. If the head unit model number makes a difference i will post it but too lazy to walk outside right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the loc is the original one from the factory head unit that went to the factory sub...can i simply change that to a different one or do i need to get the audiocontrol LC-2?? Always hooked up to aftermarket radios never on a factory one

I was looking at the audiocontrol and it says up to 400 watts rms...will this work for the 500 watt amp??

The loc is what is taking the signal from your speaker levels and turning it into rca outputs. It's not there factory. That's 400 watts input not output.

It will restore everything the stock HU is taking away. You tell me if that's a huge difference and they are $70 on amazon
Alright I ordered one. Next question...should i tap onto my factory amp preout from behind the head unit or will the rear speakers work just as well? Never installed one before and i see where most people just wire it from closest speakers but just curious if it would be better to catch it at the amp. Thanks bud.

Whatever is easier for you. Just make sure the signal you tap into is playing sub bass frequencies.
