my subs are sounding weird i dont know whats hapnin i posted a thread about it possible being water getting to my ground http://www.caraudio.com/vb/showthreadhttp://www.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=130656]

after i fixed this problem with some sealer im still havin the same problem sometimes it plays fine but others it seems like the amp is cutting out, like my lows sound burpy and it sounds like crap its not a constant tone like it should be (lil robs summer nights) used to sound good but now it sounds horrible when it hits that low.... could i have burndt a wire or somthing when that water got to it or what? its only an 8g wire but i didnt think that size mattered much for grounds.. but anyway if anyone has any ideas that i can try to fix this... let me know its driving me crazy

You could have just burned out some of the mosfets when it lost ground. There are multiple stages of amplification in there and maybe one of the higher stages burned out. (Smoke usually means something broke).

I'd suggest moving the ground to a better location, the sealer is just a bandaid. (seatbelt bolts usually work pretty good.)

As to the ground wire, you should match the size of the ground with the size of the power cable...

And if it isnt hitting the lows like it used to, and sounds bad, it doesnt mean its an amplifier problem. You could have blown a coil, get a DMM and see what the coils read.

what leads me to belive that its an amp/ground problem is because i hooked it up to my buddies BX1000d and it sounds fine.... and these type rs are only a couple of months old... so im thinking is somthing else ill try moving the ground tho... any other suggestions on top of that?

how much smoke was there? While you're playing with the ground, just pop the back cover off the amp real quick and see if there are any black marks around the mosfets.

well even if i do that is this somthing that i can fix.... i am pretty good with a soldering iron and have done alot of xbox mods and such without problems at all.... but can i order just a "mosfet" and replace it?

There are several types of transistors, you would need the exact part number or its equivalent installed and most times if one goes bad more then one need to be replaced. It could be a power supply transistor or an output transistor. Check to see if there any electronic repair places in your area. Most times they will do a diagnosis on the item for $20 and put that toward repair if you decide to have it fixed.

yeah, you should just be able to replace it, assuming you can find one with a matching part #.

ok so i emailed sonic electronix to get an rma number for a possible return/repair and this is what i go back

Please follow the instructions below...You have 14 days to send your

do it in 14 days or the whole warranty voids!?!?!?! wtf is that... plus i have to send a check 20 dollar check for a reshipment and most likley this wasent my fault....
