It looks like i might ahve to add another baffle it seems as if the motor is only going to be like 3/4" away from the one brace. But then again that might be fine..

Id make a cover that goes over the ports and round the wood not the ports. You don't a whole panel, just a trim piece.

1/2 would work. Just make sure to set the depth so it just rounds the wood and not the pvc
