allrighty, ive been thinking about getting a second job as a part time bartender. from like 8 pm- 2am..

was wondering if anyone on here has experience? and what it takes to get a job as one.. i know you have to know how to make drinks, be fast and quick. ect..

i think i would enjoy it.. more then haveing extra cash..

ive been a bartender at a few wedding's with my friend and his dad back in ohio. so i have experience.. there are a few local places around me that are highering for bartenders..

just wanted to know from the people that have experience.

thanks

seth

ya think so???......

that's a givin!!! im 22 and single.. so it's right up my ally.

just want to know what it takes.. i got a interview this friday. down at a big bar in salt lake..

i take it you havent been to bar tending school.....the club i work at actually suggests you don't go to bar tending school....but thats also cause all we have is like canned beer, shots, and a few mixed drinks

It's relatively easy. Work at a place thats privately owned, not a big chain like chili's. Turn in apps everywhere. They'll start you off slow and most your time will be spent learning how to pour (measurements in seconds) and then how to mix, shake, etc.

Keep an open mind, and recommend something top shelf if someone asks. Most people will enjoy just about any vodka... as long as they think it will be good.

Act like you dont care about the women or you're too busy with your job and you'll have them.

it's something I would like to do

I've been working in restaurants 3+ years, a few of the restaurants I've worked at bartenders use 5 gallon buckets for tip jars, and by the end of the night they are full - granted its California, you'd be good as long as you find the right place

you dont need to goto school to make drinks.
Its called "experience" or credibility. When someone asks what experience you have... would you rather say "Oh, well I went to bartending school" or "Oh, i'm an alcoholic, I already know how to make all these drinks"?

Well someones gonna be funny and say the second one, but you KNOW the first one is far more professional, and far more likely for someone to hire you vs. someone else who might not know their stuff. And 2 weeks of school is NOTHING.

yea.. my buddies dad is a big time bar tender.. he know's how to juggle the bottles. spit fire. kinda like a compitition bar tender... he said he would teach me a whole bunch of shit.

i just want a sec. job. after i get done with my 10-6 installing job... the extra cash sounds nice...

looking for a social job basicly like a server/ bartender... but would love to be a bartender at a club for sure..

im not in the position to go to school... not really down for dishing out the cash... would rather get a rookie bartending job at a local pub... get the feal for it and then move up to the big timers!

my roomate is a bartender and went to the school... he said that the school mostly teaches you how to tell when someone is too drunk and needs to be cut off, and how to prevent people for getting in arguments and shit like that...
