While discussing the recent TC Sounds restructuring on another forum, the topic turned to the new bamboo enclosures they are using for their IS-101 subwoofers. I found a few site that offered bamboo flooring, bamboo veneer, and even bamboo-based mdf. Then someone pointed me to this site. The solid edge grain version looks like it could be the type that tc sounds is using.
I'm going to email the company and find out pricing details, as well as some of my local lumberyards. I'm not sure if they sell direct-to-customer or if they only sell wholesale or to manufacturers, but I'd love to try out some of this stuff. I googled the name and came up with several products from varying sources using the stuff. If TC seems to think it justifies the price on the is-101, then it very well may be worth looking into. It sure as hell looks better than birch ply boxes. (No offense to anyone)
Does anyone here work in the lumber industry or have connections/associates that may be able to get info if they are reluctant to tell private buyers (me) ?
I may try to order some small pieces to build a second set of my mini computer speakers.
