I just ripped out my old speakers from my doors in my sierra, and am about to put in my new pg rsds. The only issue is they are slightly too large for the stock mounting snap in plastic and i need to make a custom baffle or whatever its called. I believe i have about 1/4 of an inch that i can extend it from the metal, but any further and i will run into the plastic of the door grill (the grill is part of the door so its not removable). What would be a good material to use for between the speaker and the metal on the door, i know some just use a circle of mdf, but what i have in my garage is only 3/4 and that will probably be too big, and i dont really wanna buy a sheet of smaller if possible. Can i use like weatherstriping or something along those lines.
Also when removing my old speakers that have been in for about two years i noticed some rust particles on the magnet, i couldnt tell if they were from the speaker or not but i assume so. I was wondering if there were any ideas for how to custom create a shield that can go over the top of the speaker to prevent water dripping onto it from normal door moisture.
