I'll be going to college at the end of the summer, and I'll need to downsize from my 18", I was thinking of one 10 or maybe 2 8s. I'll probably be running around 1500w for the substage. I've never really understood how large of a role efficiency of a woofer plays and which ones are more so than others. I also like some authority in the below 30hz region, i dont know if have a 10 or 8s will make that just a dream. I may just try to get Corey to build me one @SPLaudio
I was thinking though maybe looking into a dc xl, lvl 5, Sundown zv4, dd 9500, im not sure though, what do ya'll think? Musicality plays a role as well, sql is my nature.
If anybody wants a still stiff IA flatlyne 18" let me know

Going from an 18, to a single 10, or a pair of 8s, is going to be a BIG Change for you..Im not sure that youd be happy with either,as I went from an 18 to 2-10s,and now back to 4- 10s.i was never satisfied with a single 10/12, or even a pair of tens..I couldnt imagine going with a pair of 8s.If anything, i think you would be happy with a pair of 12s/1000 rms 12s to be honest.Id take a look at some 12s,such as the American Bass 12s that are getting some excellent reviews at this time.Just my opinion, and from my own experience.dealt with

Yep a single XFL 12" can get pretty nasty and sound amazing in 2.5cf with abundant port area......I have a local setup we done in a trunk car and it is impressive with only 1k on it...........A single I-Con would be a great choice as well.....

Well you already had Q's
ya i want to try something different, and i dont feel like an xfl is what im looking for. Right now my 18 on about 800w in my explorer is almost as loud as my fi q with spl audio recone on the dd m3 in my old bmw's trunk

I think if i get a monster 10 and put it on 2k or so will be good. I'm trying to save some space, and a normal box for a 12, 2.5-3cubes, might be too big. My amps arent exactly small either haha, an xtant 4180c and alpine mrv1507 are not exactly known for their smaller size, but i think i may have a place to put them.

Ive never run a 10, can a single 10 get loud? get low?
