background hiss from HU

I changed head units about 2 months ago and since then i am getting a slight background hiss which gets louder as the volume gets louder. It is not noticeable at low volumes but it can be noticeable at mid to high volumes and when changing songs. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this or is it just from the HU with nothing i can do to fix it. If i turn the gain on the amp down the hiss will go away but the then my front speakers aren't nearly as loud. My equipment is in my sig.

you might have blown the pico fuse.....pioneers are infamous for this.......as it has happened to mine. What i did was ground the RCAs to the chassis of the head unit and it solved about 90% of the hiss. do a search on this forum and you can find some helpful info that will help u decide if that is actually is the prob. or like mtx520 said, it could be as simple as a ground.

I am pretty sure it's not the pico fuse because my previouse pioneer did have that problem and it was far far worse that what i have now. What i have now is just a slight hiss that can get annoying at high volumes.

Do you notice it more on Burnt CD' over a normal retail Audio disc?

well the only music i listen too is always mp3s on a DVD disc.

it should be the ground..try a new ground...if no luck with that...i think theres some adapters to get rid of hiss noice...

Try playing a normal retail disc and see if it does the same thing.

I notice that my Kenwood has BG hiss when I play a burnt audio CD, But when I play a retail CD the hiss is gone or very very quite in comparison to the Burnt disc.

Would a noise filter possible help this? Do the noise cheap noise filters that you can buy to add on actually do anything?
