I used to farm them...

They could be mean, but most of the time they were great, tthey were curious as hell... IWe had amost 50 of them at one time.

YOu could go out in the pen with them and pet them and they'd all surround you and check you out... They'd peck at your clothes and stuff.

The males (like the one that SAG3 took a picture of were REALLY mean in the summer. They would charge the fence and attack each other, sometimes come after you if you looked threatening... Actually, the ostrich that we raised tasted pretty **** good... It was like eating super good steak every night. The meat is red like beef and has no fat, so you have to cook it carefully (ie retain the natural juice because there is NO fat to speak of) If I served you an ostrich steak next to a good cut of beef it would be VERY hard to tell it apart.
