AVH-P4900DVD wont play DVD's at all

here is my problem i have a AVH-P4900DVD head unit in my vehicle but it wont play DVD's at all wheather its in park or not it always just says video will not play while in drive honestly im not too concerned with playing DVD's while driving cause id probably end up killing my self any way but id definately like to be able to play DVD's although i have to admit it would be kool to be able to play them while driving any help?

ground the parking brake wire or find a bypass on ebay
