You realize that Hunter S. Thompson was pretty much a fraud don't you? Most of what he wrote about, his drug use and stuff he never actually did. His actual trip to Vegas was nothing like what he wrote about or is in the movie, he was relatively sober most of the time and never actually did half the shit he said he did.
