Review of: AudioTechnix 60mil Sound Deadener

I am going to copy and paste the review I did of this product from last year. Don't ask why it lines up weird, I'm just as confused as you are. Also, I'll leave an update with how the product is holding up now a year later.

I got mine in a couple weeks ago and have had it in for... a couple

weeks now This is my first deadener experience as I've really only

been in the car audio game for a few months. But I've been obsessed

with it ever since and am amazed at how much I've learned in just

those few months, and this site has been a ton of help. Anyways, I was

sick of trunk and rear-deck lid rattles mostly, and the more and more

I read about it, the more and more I wanted it. Hearing people say it

was the best investment they've ever made, increased output, cooler

trunk, quieter ride, etc... I had to have it, and with the big new

brand Audio Technix out and offering great deals with great reviews, I

pulled the trigger. Got 25sqft of the 60mil to deck out my trunk and

license plate of course. I bought a roller with it, and made sure to

rub all the areas down with rubbing alcohol first for a clean stick.

Everything pealed off very easy. I had no problems cutting or molding

it to anything. I didn't cut my hands up? I'm not sure how people managed to do that. But I'm sure when working with lots it, it could get messy, I didn't have any of those problems.

When buying it, I had quick PM response, and very helpful. Shipped right away, and was at my door in less than 5 days. What more could I ask for?

It went on easy and sticky, and the roller helped a lot. But it was also easy enough to press down with my fingers. It took maybe an hour to do the trunk lid, maybe a bit more. And the rear deck lid took a couple hours, though it'd probably go by much quicker if it wasn't my first time. And because it was my first time, please make any suggestions on something I should have deadened and missed, or any sort of tips! I'd really appreciate it. I've still got around 1/3 to a 1/4 of the roll left, so I can still tackle some areas that would be useful, if you guys suggest it. Here's some pics to fap to!

Year later update:

It's been a year now. Now in southern California we don't have to deal with humidity, or very low temperatures. But it did drop to the 20's over winter. And it's been 100+ since then in my trunk this summer. The AT is still holding on like new. It hasn't shifted or started to drip or goop or anything. It looks pristine. Just thinking about it today, I was shocked to realize it's been a full year.
Also, I think I'm going to be getting some b-stock 80mil for a friend here in a bit and I'll be sure to post how that goes and more pics as well.

Absolutely. I didn't notice a ton in my doors, but I think that may be because they were already sealed up from the factory. But I could hear it when I shut them, and they feel more solid.

For the trunk lid and rear deck, it's a night and day difference.

This is the last bit I forgot to copy and paste from a year ago:

"And this stuff works great! My trunk is solid, you can hear it when you shut it and knock on it. No more license plate rattle And boy can I hear the difference when I drive. I was so pumped the first day, smiled my whole drive. It was like I got a whole new system, very exciting. Almost made up for my grossly undersized enclosure for my subs. It'll be really nice when I get the new sub and custom enclosure in I can't wait.

Also, it's been two very hot weeks here in California, and this stuff is holding GREAT! We've also had a few chilly nights with hot days and those temp changes aren't messing with it. So, I have absolutely ZERO complaints for this product. The only way it'd be better, would be if it was free "

I still hold that to be true. Definitely reduced the flex and vibration in my trunk. I wish I knew where my leftovers were so I could do the spare tire well and what not.

That said, only using about ~17ft of the roll and I got my trunk lid, rear deck, and front doors done. As long as you're going to be keeping your car for a couple years, I would never hesitate to recommend it, as a necessity.

Yep its good stuff. Did my doors but never got around to completely installing my comps, its still a night and day difference just for every day rattles/vibrations. The doors feel more solid. I desperately needed to get rid of the rattles in my old truck and it helped a ton with that. Also did the back wall in my ext cab and it helped reduce some rattles I had from my subwoofers also.

I bought 50 sq.ft. of this stuff and love it, has stood up to some pretty cold temps, was installing it in below zero temps the other day. Ran the engine for a few mins and sat it on the hood to get it warm, and just stuck it straight in. Top stuff and a good guy to deal with for sure.

Got all 80 mil in my truck. Stuff is good. Only other stuff I would run is RHS....but is in a different league than any other deadener out there. 4mm thick.

Mine has seen from -40 to +110 so far......holding up great.
