My friend has a Level 4 15". Nice sub. It'd be a whole lot nicer if I could finish the custom enclosure...

i live in Adrian MO. small town south of K.C. , i have most the tools for wood work, i understand Cubic Feet and all that, i have just never try'd to make any other box's than sealed, never even seen inside a slot port box, so i would be lost. but i can make a sweet rock solid 1 cf sealed box i know that ! lol .......

A sealed enclosure will be fine. If you want to try your hand at a ported enclosure, you could use this: RE Enclosure Calculator

It isn't 110% accurate, but meh. It's okay...

I was originally thinking a 1.5" port would be sort of small, but it should be okay.
