AudioFrog GB10 and GB25 dash/podz

I vote for a dedicated sub amp. TC-1000 is solid. Also, consider IA flatlyne. The audio frog stuff is supposed to be awesome, so you should get the matching midbass. You should just do the standard 6.5" with adapters. If not audiofrog, look into raw drivers.
The TC-1000 15 is a rare driver...it offers exactly what I'm looking for in this application;

-it's a 15 with 20+mm of clean xmax

-designed for SQ

-it only requires about 500rms to really sing

-15.6hz (fs) so it's gonna dig really deep

-about 7 inches mounting depth...perfect for glassing in a spare tire well and building a false-floor.

-will work in about 2.5cubes

-and the sub is rare as fvck

The IA flatlynes are very good from what I hear. They utilize a similar underhung motor design as the Audiomobile MASS drivers did back in the day. However the MASS has a bit more excursion...and they aren't made anymore.

9" morels in the doors! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I remember always wanting the tc-2000's back in the day. Saw two for sale a couple of months back but was too slow picking them up.

I didn't like the direction my new pods were going...so I grabbed a pair I had made for a set or Morel Supremo's. I had these pods installed in my car before and they were already adjusted to the proper angle...so I just modified them to fit the smaller format tweeter.

These pods fill out the space much better and tuck right into the corner. A little drilling...a little routing...a little sanding...and presto...ready for paint tomorrow!

Enjoy the pics!

Crutchfield, right? What setup are you leaving to go to these?
Yessir got em from Crutchfield. I got the 2.5's, the tweets and the xovers as 'scratch & dent' to save a few bucks. The tweets and xovers were perfect, the 2.5's had a small puncture hole where someone obviously slipped trying to mount them. Crutchfield was awesome and sent me a new set and they covered all shipping...that's excellent service.

I actually haven't had a system up and running since last fall. At the time I think I was running Morel supremo Piccollo's, Alpine SPX pro 6.5's, Audiomobile MASS 2012 12inch sub...all running off a JL hd900/5. I much prefer the sound of a 3way to that of a 2way front-stage...so that's why I'm going back to one.

it will be interesting how the aiming works with the pods. you definitely need to seal off the air vent behind the driver or the pressure will destroy the speaker. i admit, the size is perfect and it would be difficult to resist something that looks stock. getting the right balance between mid and tweeter will be important since they aren't physically time aligned.

when you seal off the vents, get plenty of sound absorption back there (pack it full) or it will resonate like a tube and any speaker will sound terrible.

I stuffed the air tubes with about 6inches (deep) of rolled-up 2inch memory foam.I scrunched it down, stuffed it in then let it expand...it should be pretty inert at this point. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

maybe memory foam at the rear to create a seal but something more absorptive (like acousti-stuff or ultratouch) would be a better idea. memory foam will act like a solid surface for most frequencies produced by the mid and cause a peaky response.

Thanks. I'll look into that stuff.
