So im installing me run of 1/0 ga the other day and wanted to pick up a fuse holder locally, so i decided to head over to the only car audio installer that i know of in the area.
When i first walked in, i knew i would probably just end up dealing with some bullshit and arguing with someone with "experience". I knew a few things walking in there about the owner from one of my friends that he impressed about a month earlier. And according to him AQ is shit fyi.
When asking for a fuse holder for 1/0, i got the response of "what the hell are you running that would need that?"...i told him i just purchased a PowerBass ASA 1500.1d, that puts out 1500w RMS. He resounding responds how i only need to run 4 ga for that setup. Knowing this is untrue i ask him what he would fuse the wire at, he responded,"whatever the amp was fused at", being internally unfused i asked him what was the max amperage he would fuse a run of 4ga in a car safely at, his answer. "400A." 400 ****ing AMPS... i just let it be.
When i started talking about my amp, he was happy to hear i had purchased a PowerBass amp because he had recently picked up their product line. When i told him i purchased it online, and for a mere 220shipped, He asked for the name of the site(millionbuy.com) and talks about how hes going to contact his supplier and have them shut down, along with that i come to find out that he also retails that very same amp from powerbass at $700
Just for shits and giggles, today i looked at the Current ratings from AWG for wire sizes

4ga max chassis wiring=135A
1/0 max chassis wiring=245A
0000 max chassis wiring=380A
Im baffled how this guy can tell me to fuse 4ga wire at something that 4/0 cant even handle.. its impressive to see this ignorance..
CLIFFS:
1. went to audioexpress in Cedar Rapids, IA (poor decision)
2. the owner told me i only needed 4ga, when i already had 1/0 ga and he told me 4ga can be fused at 400A safely.
3. I laugh my *** off.
4. He thinks hes going to shut down millionbuy.com because he's that ignorant.
5. I buy nothing and he looks stupid.
