i got a question about some of this audiocontrol equipment. what is the benefit of having an external equalizer? does an alpine HU's EQ not even compare to a seperate EQ? also, what about line drivers? from what i understand, they give you the ability to send out like 14v signals? is that right, and what is the benefit of that? thanks guys!!

An external EQ will let you tune your system alot more than the EQ from your HU. But, unless your in SQ comps, or are VERY picky about your sound, the EQ in the Alpines should suffice...they are pretty good EQ's to my knowledge.

As far as line drivers....?

I feel that a line driver is more than worth it, and Audio COntrol make some of the best equipment, the external EQ will make it easy for you to taylor the sound to how you want it personally

well, they don't seem to be super expensive or anything, i just don't understand the benefits of the line driver. can you help me out?
they boost your available signal from your head unit, inline to your amp, a stronger signal means a cleaner signal, which also means you can run the power up higher with less distortion, and you can get more out of your amps, you dont get more power, you get more out of that power, made a large difference for me and many other people I know that want better signal strength, look at all the top SQ and SPL cars, they all have some sort of line driver and most of them are Audio Control

oh yeah I am currently using 3 pieces of Audio Control Equipment and plan to maybe add 2 more atleast

alright, one more thing. if you could just help me out with my specific equipment. you can see what i've got in my sig... now, i would run one of my three preouts from the HU to the line driver as close to the HU as possible, then from the line driver to the amp. so, does that mean i would need a seperate line driver for every amp i'm running? in my case, two? one for the front components, and one for my sub? next question... what would that do for my gain settings on my particular amp... it's lowest setting is 4 volts... so, where do i set it with a line driver? also, what kind of current draw is a line driver going to take? is it enough to ammount to problems if i'm almost pushing my altenator as it is? last question... would i get much benefit from a line driver without anything else? what i mean by that is, would i notice a difference with just a line driver and no other goodies from audiocontrol like an equilizer, x-over, etc... sorry about all the questions, but thanks for the help!

there is the Matrix, which is a 6 channel line driver, Alma Gates is using a bunch of them, that way you are driving the 4 front channels and the 2 subs channels, the settings on the amp can only be determined after the install, but they will be substanstially lower than before, and the current draw is minimal, but an upgraded alternator is highly reccomended, but most all of the Audio Control products have a linedriver built in regardless, you should check out their site, it will better explain what every piece does

hope that helps some
