AudioControl 24xs vs. 2XS and... SWAT?

I have had the 24XS for ten years. I love it. But I never knew what the Speaker Wave Alignment Technology (SWAT) was. So I didn't know what the Wave Alignment dial did. I never noticed any difference when turning the dial or pushing the button "in" or "out. I am looking at selling this and getting a 2XS because I don't see much of any difference between them except for that SWAT. So my question. What is SWAT and "phase control?" I am guessing something to do with getting the same "sounds" out of the left and right speaker instead of some frequencies out of the left and the others out of the right. So can someone explain that to me or point me to a good link/writeup? Also with the exception of the SWAT is there any difference in the two crossovers. I know that the 24XS is 24db and the 2XS is 18db.

Phase control is a control that aligns the signal 180 degree out of phase; that is, when the cone should be moving outwards it moves inwards. This is used when you're expriencing cancellation.

As far as the 2XS unit, I have one in my set up and absolutely love it. I have a relatively simple 2 way system and use the 2XS on my sub amp.

Thanks for the response boom. I understand what you said but don't really understand what it does. What purpose does it serve to turn the signal 180 and what exactly is cancellation? Sorry for all the dumbass questions.

did you email AUDIOCONTROL SUPPORT? I bet they know.

I thought SWAT was more complicated than just a phase button. It was supposed to re-align signals to keep them in phase due to processing differences...oh h3ll, i forget now.
