Audiobahn?

Even the higher end models? It says it does 1200x1 @ 1ohm. How much do you think it realyy puts out?

yo i got a audiobahn 2200hct amp 1600w @ 1ohm , im not impressed at all, way overrated, i even put a 12 fatad cap on it to help power it up and not a difference

buy something else

they also overheat within 30 to 40 mins of continous loud play

you'd be lucky to get 1000 out of it. but then you also have build quality to worry about. not too reliable.
You know this for a fact? You've used that amp or at least have seen a benchtest of it for yourself?

I understand that Audiobahn doesn't enjoy much of a following here and for good reason but I have known more than a couple of people who have used their amps with success.

Given the choice would I buy Audiobahn myself over something else? Unless the 'Bahn was an outrageously great deal it's not too likely but outside of that if he can get the amp for a decent price then why not do it?

Their older amps were decent. I ran a couple. As well as a pair of the AWT12X subs. They got **** loud and were built quite well. Not too familiar with the newer shit but I have had decent luck with the high end old stuff.

I meant experience (whether direct or indirect) with the specific amp the OP was asking about.

Their subs we won't even discuss for obvious reasons //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

that specific model, no. Will you say some of boss' amps are okay because you've never used them?
If a company makes crappy subs, crappy amps, crappy speakers, and crappy everything else, why would this amp be different?
I believe what he is trying to say is that you cant say much if you have no prior experience with that model amp. Also, if all you are basing your opinion on is what others say then your opinion is very biased and not based on fact. For all you know they could have had improperly set gains or electrical issues. Just like the storm series stuff from lightning audio is noticeably better than the starter line from them. The 2 Audiobahn amps I ran were decent. Never overheated, clipped or blew my subs. My gains were set properly and I never had an issue.

I would say that if the end user isn't expecting performance exceeding the actual abilities of a Boss amp if the price of admission isn't out of line then yeah, it's okay.

Would I buy their gear myself? No. Would I buy a Pyramid product? If it isn't a power supply, again the answer will be a definitive NO.

Having said that I have more than a couple of friends that have used what most (if not all) of us here would dismiss out of hand as garbage with good results. If you're not asking more of a product than it can reasonably give you (which most people do when talking about the above-referenced brands) then anything can be a decent product. A buddy of mine has a 2-channel Boss amp he picked up at a garage sale for like $10. It boldly claims something like 800 watts or some ludicrous output level across the chassis in very garishly bright lettering. We looked it up online and according to the manual it does like 55 watts per channel RMS. Using the DMM method we set the gains for 40w and he's been running it on a pair of 6x9s for like three years now.

Again ~ is Boss something I would purposely invest in? Not too likely...

Is an amp that has been running trouble-free for three years worth $10?

Without question.

Not bashing here...

Agreed, $10 at bad but how is the SQ on it.

I guess if you are happy with it then more power to ya.

But if your willing to fork out the cash for an Audiobahn, then why not do a little more research and shopping to find a better amp for apx the same price range. I dont know what the price is on the amp he is talking about but....Surly you can find something else.

The friend in question is using a Jensen .mp3 HU that he bought at a pawn shop for $50 as his source and the ByNines that the Boss amp is powering are some 2-way Pioneers he caught on sale at Wal-Mart.

I'm thinking that SQ isn't his primary concern but rather getting sound in his truck, period, with the smallest possible investment.

ive used that EXACT amp ur thinking of getting.......and my old lanzar 1200d not only out performed it, but did ****ign circles around it. and the lanzar is like $200 cheaper......that bahn amp sucks, sucks BAD....over rated, totally not efficent, and all bling, dont buy it.....
