Hey Hey. I'm looking to get two Audiobahn's 06 Flame Q's, AW1006T. I'm thinking about 2 10". Anyone have any experience with these subs? Or with they're cousin the AW1008T? Google doesn't help a whole lot with my research, but I heard this place is the place that knows all. Thank you

Loud for 10's. My Bro had the those audiobahn alums and they were much louder and had sq to them. i think he hit 145 with 2 of them. go with those instead, but check out some other subs before you make your final desicion. There is better than Audiobahn when we are trying to find SQ.

I had two aw1206t's power by an a18001dt putting 900rms to each sub when they were rated for 1100rms. It was in 2.5 cubes per sub tuned to 35hz. One voice coil burned very badly...didn't blow but was very near it. On the other sub the tensil leads on both coils burnt in half...Ohh yea and not to mention that amp blew up. This was my 4th system and to date I've had 8-10 in my car and this was the ONLY setup I had any problems with. So don't get the flame q's and DEFINATELY do not get audiobahn.

the AW1206T that im running has between 700-900W going to it (havent checked in a while) in a .5 cuft sealed box and it sounds pretty good.

SExxx i can pretty much tell you your problem buddy. you had your subs in ported boxes pushing 900W to each... bad idea. everyone knows that audiobahn overrates there subs, and you had these *****es in a ported. that is why you fried it... too much power homie.

but i have a 12" running on a 1200W amp with the gains turned a little higher then halfway up and it really doesnt sound that bad. i have the loudest system at my school (right now) till my buddy gets his 3 linear comps installed. the closest person to me is running a 10" L7 in a ported box... but i'm just tellin you what i got and what its like.... i'll try to get some pics of it and possibly get metered.

^^ the orange fiberglass trunk car is my buddy Justin's car 6sp eclipse turbo'ed / Nitrous'ed. 3 Linear Comps and 2 (forgot what model amps).

The subs are rated 1100w RMS and he said the coils fried; unless he was constantly playing at or very close to the tuning frequency they should have still been able to handle the power thermally as that is not dependent upon the box. No, had he bottomed them out and damaged the coils that way, then that would be box related. So kinda hard to say without more info...........

i see what your sayin squeak but what im telling you is, you cannot give those subs 1100 watts each in a ported box. you cant even give them 1100 in a sealed man. like i said they are a little overrated. i could have swore that you cant put the RMS power to a sub if its in a ported box. idk though.

You missed the point: There are two types of overpowering; Thermal and Mechanical. The thermal power handling is the same regardless of box size/style, mechanical power handling is box dependent. To "burn a coil", you must exceed the thermal power handling, not the mechanical. About the only way a box can effect the thermal power handling is if it was a ported box played continuously at or very close to the tuning frequency, where the cone doesn't move a great deal and hence doesn't get as great of cooling.........but when playing music this will almost never happen (unless tuned insanely high), so it isn't really an issue. You are correct, a sub in a ported box can't handle has much power mechanically, but exceeding mechanical limits won't "fry a coil" (which is a thermal limit)

And as a side note about Audiobahn; You shouldn't have to "guess" at how much power a sub can take thermally, they should be able to handle whatever they are rated for (thermally). If they can't, take them back and get your money back, as a company that lies is not a company I want to support by buying their product //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

good call squeak... i forgot mechanical isnt the coil. i dont know, maybe he was sending a clipped signal or something, or maybe not getting enough volt to it. lol idk, 700-900w to mines in a sealed still holdin strong. maybe i should turn it up =)

I dont understand why people mention their gain settings when posting how loud their system is. Gains have a optimal setting (dependant on your signal voltage to the amp), they should pretty much be set and left alone.

They were in a small ported box and no thermal power handling has nothing to do with the enclosure. They were not mechanically stressed as they were in 2.5 cubes per sub. One coil burned up a little bit didn't blow and the other sub's tensil leads were friend in half. Theese things are horrible subs. I'm running two re sexxx's in 5 subes for both tuned to 28hz and they get MUCH louder off of 350 watts then those bahns did off of 1800. Audiobahns are horrible subs and they're amps are overrated pieces of chrome. So peteman a great alterantive to the audiobahn 06 series would be two resonant engineering se's. They have slightly more cone are then abahn's 06's because they use WAAAY too big surround and they will get louder. Power a pair off a bx1500d and you will be very satisfied with your system.

So the AW1006T aren't so good? What about the ALUM10Q? Anyone know much about them? And how do you figure out the output at 3 ohms if I'm only given output at 2 ohms and 4 ohms?

Why are you so set on Audiobahn?? Many, many, many other subs that are better (well, just about anything is better than Audiobahn's subs), and usually for less money.

What's your budget, and do you already have an amp??
