I'm about to start on a 2008 G35 Sedan install. The customer wants to do a double DIN unit in the dash and a few headrest monitors, etc. Not my usual install, but oh well. I am having a hard time finding a dash kit for the car though. It's got the factory BOSE stereo, which he is leaving in there for now, and has the cd slot down by the A/C controls with the display screen up between the two A/C vents, but it is not Nav. I am curious what options I have. My idea was to either replace the stock screen with a double DIN unit, if a kit is available (don't really want to make one and the car is a lease so I can't use the factory one) or replace the area where the cd slot is with a single DIN dvd player, if I can somehow tap into the stock monitor to use as the display. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

here is a pic of the dash:

The problem is he doesn't want to replace any of the speakers, add an amp/sub, etc. He just wants an in dash that plays movies and possibly does Nav. So I need to find a dash kit for the car, and nobody seems to make one. I've even looked online for Japanese stuff and can't find anything there either. The car is a lease so I can't mod is stock one. I'm just hoping there is a dash kit out there somewhere along with a wire harness that will allow me to interface with the BOSE and whatever other controls run through the stock HU.

**** man, I'm not experienced at all with new car installs, but this one looks like it's gonna be a *****//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Good luck. Interested in what you end up doing

He should have gotten the upgraded package with the nav system, then. That version has video inputs in the center console. There is a ton of stuff from the car's electronics integrated into the display in the dash. It incorporates much more than just the display for the radio. It also interfaces with the climate controls, the trip computer, the maintenance log, and just about everything else in the car actually. Replacing that HU is not easy, cheap, or worth it especially in a lease.

That's kinda what I figured. I don't feel like going through his entire electrical system behind the dash and rerouting pins and wires just so he can have Nav, either. If there is a video input in the dash somewhere (didn't look for one) then hopefully he will be okay with that. He wants headrest monitors as well, so I'll have to see what kind of source I can find for video that will install semi-inconspicuously and will interface with his stock monitor.

maybe just get a garmin or something and put it in the glove box and find a way to use the the screen as a monitor do the same with like an external dvd source

You may want to contact NavTV. We use a lot of their interfaces for Mercedes, Caddy's etc. We recently did an 08 Pathfinder and added Alpine Nav to it for a local dealership. Not sure if the piece is the same for the Infiniti models but its worth a shot.

Well it turns out that from the factory, they install an A/V-IN in the center console, so I did a half-DIN DVD player mounted under the glovebox and an external TV tuner, then 2 headrest monitors. My only problem now is figuring out which wire to ground from the stock monitor so he can watch it up front while he is driving //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif I've personally always thought this was pretty pointless but whatever. Anyone have any suggestions? I have a guy over on DIYMA that was gonna try and get me the wiring schematic for the car, but we haven't gotten back in touch yet.
