Attention CA fans, this person needs advice.

My sub amp is set at about 3/4 w/ 2.2v preouts. P3001 pushing a Diamond D3 10.

Here's a silly question, and I don't mean to jack your thread but does a HU Clip through the preouts? Pio deh-7800

you probly need higher pre-out voltage to get a cleaner signal. you'll only usually reach the max voltage using a sine wave @ full volume. when playing music, it will not reach anywhere near rms output.

where the gain knob is set, is totally irrelevant (i.e. a 1/4 way up, or 3/4 way up). it's level matching the output voltage from the hu. hell some ppl will have their gains turned ALL teh way up and still not clip whereas others can go a 1/4 way up and start clipping.

maybe get a better hu, (possibly a new amp) or just build a bigger box.

Ok, so i did some more testing and found out that my HU clips at volume 23. So if i did the DMM testing over, should i set the bass at 0 or -7? Will i get louder now that i found out where it clips and do the test at volume 22?
