So i set my gains on my hercules by DMM. Everything is fine (nomore clipping, nomore issues) but i want louder. So While i am driving, i turn up the bass from -7 to 0, and it hits pretty **** hard!!! But the amp clips badly when i do this for a good 3-5 seconds. Is there anyway i can get it that loud without clipping the signal?

Bass Boost off.

No bass knob

Any help would be nice.

I just got this feeling like i am not playing the amp to its full potential, too quite!!

I set my gains to 44.7v. It appears to be less than half on the level. I would think my gains would be really high because i only have a 2volt signal coming from my HU. (Alpine 9856)

But i have a feeling this can get louder than it is now. I have it set at 44.7, and it's less than half. Shouldn't it be atleast half since i have a 2v HU

Ahhhhh....No.If you play your volume louder than the volume you used to set your gains, you will clip.
What I think he meant is to have the volume set at the loudest position you might reasonably see yourself ever cranking it to and have the bass set at 0 while making input sensitivity adjustments.
Crudely worded, maybe, but his post was correct nonetheless //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

After re-reading, it appears you are correct. My bad.

But, I do have a question. If you raise the listening volume when you set your gains, won't you be turing back your gain knob, thus resulting in the same loudness?

That's what i was thinking.

Well, i don't care if it's at 0 or -7. It does not make no difference to me if it does not get louder. So basically, if i have my bass at 0, i will be backing off on the gains to get the 44.7v. It just doesn't feel like i have hercules on type Rs, it feels like i got sony explods.. Maybe, im just expecting too much?
