im 17, in senior year of high school, never been left back or failed a thing. plans of college for criminal justice/forensics. my father is 51 and still taking classes and getting degrees in blah blah blah. he wants me to follow in his footsteps when i do not want to. you can see the stress his school courses cause in his face, hair, the way he talks. he sits at the table till 4 am doing homework just to get some other degree when hes already making 150k a year. am i supposed to try and be perfect and follow his footsteps and be un happy or just live like i want to and do what i want to.....

Word. These posts in general where people talk about their lives are pointless. That's why I chose not to share my story of how I ditched highway patorl this weekend by bobbing through traffic, running red lights, and driving on the wrong side of the road....it's just not that important and nobody cares. And if they do, it's probably because they care to feel bored and talk crap and raise post count....or even make a post like this just rambling on, because I'm getting tired of working on ArcGIS for the past 6 hours.

i am assuming you are black. that being said, you most probably will end up in jail or killed by the drugs. your dad/step-dad already knows this, your mother obviously doesnt, they cant agree over it and your mom refuses to accept the fact and blames it on "discrimination" and thats the reason for their split up.

its not exactly your fault they are aplitting up. its because you are black and he knows it. so i guess you are somewhat to blame, but you didnt choose to be racially disadvantaged.

If you're looking for advice, do what you want. No need to follow his steps, but I think his point is for you to make something of yourself and have a good appearance. Simple as that. Also, when asked to take your hood off, do so. You're not special and don't deserve special treatment. Your father went a little overboard, but seems like you do what you want without caring how it can affect others when it does matter. Change things in your life, care about others. Grow up.
