Are there any downfalls to having my subs this close to my Rear hatch glass??

i am building a custom sub box that is going to end up being 1.5 inches from the back of my hatch glass at the closest point (furthest back end point of the box/car) and the part of the box closer to the front of the car/driver will be about 4 inches away from the hatch glass, since the hatch back obviously angles downwards towards the latch.

supposing the subwoofer is not hitting the glass obviously, is there any major downfall to having the bass come off the glass that is only 1.5 inches away? im not concerned about breaking the glass, but more so if the sq or loudness will significantly decrease because of this.

alpine m1000 amp

alpine 1022D 10" type R subs (TWO of them)

slot ported box with subs facing upwards towards glass, and port coming out of a side towards the back of the car.

thanks everyone, just making the move from caf.com to ca.com. i heard you guys are more knowledgeable and easier to talk to, especially for someone who is a n00b like myself. thanks again!

If the BASS is loud enough they could shatter the rear hatch window.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
you really think 2 10" alpine R's could do that? its a 2000 pontiac ***** am ws-6. and the type R's are 500watt rms, and 1500 watt max a piece. ??? i mean i have had them in a sealed box that was 3 inches from the glass for a year now with no issues, but maybe 1.5 inches + ported box (even tho the port is not coming out facing the glass) might make a difference????

the guy up top was being a pure smart ***. dont listen to BS like that. but then again that is pretty much all this site is known for now. on the other hand I think 1.5" is pretty close. When I build down firing boxes I make the height from the floor the same width as my port. IE a 4x10" port = box being 4 from the floor. I think 1.5" is going to be too close, but you also said that is at the closest point so I take it the enclosure is slanted, perhaps you can get a few pictures. This would help a good bit.

yes i will get some pictures tomorrow, and thank you for giving a good detailed answer, i really appreciate it. and the box itself is not slanted, however the back hatch glass is. so the box will be about 1.5-1.75 inches at the closest point, and 5 inches away at the furthest point, and the box is 17" wide. so obviously if the subs are in the middle of the 17" box and they are only 10" a piece it guess it will truly be (just estimating) about 2.25 inches away at the closest point, and 4.25 inches away at the furthest point of the actual sub itself

I think it would sound louder if you were able to move the box a little further away..

I have boofers in my trunk facing backwords. When they slide backwords closer to the back of the car they arent as loud.
