are SUV's bad for sound quality?

This guy from Tweeter said that SUV's, including hard-top types like my Jeep Liberty are "horrible" for sound quality from door speakers, even if you use dynamat.

Now I have Polk Momo speakers (which sound great in the showroom) and dynamat throughout. I drive with my windows up---- and my door speakers still sound VERY crappy.

Is this guy right?

Or do I just have a bad set-up/system?

I don't have an SUV so I cannot say for sure, but I've always hear that they were better for bass. Doors are doors if properly deadened. Maybe they are angled incorrectly or is the door panel blocking/covering part of the speakers?

Probably the same retard that said JL w7's would be louder than the L7 12s I had in there. When I said, "Let me borrow 4 of them, if they are louder and actually handle the power Im throwing at them, Ill buy em...." When the dude found out I had 8.8kW rms he declined... The retard had also never heard of Zapco...

tweeter/soundadvice are all a bunch of retards down here...

I have a 95 Grand cherokee with the stock infinity system and all of my door speakers are blown yet they still sound pretty good and i can hear them with my windows up and my bass up pretty loud, i have 2 L7 12s and a 1200.1 so i dont guess you could really say its the Jeep......

manual cars are better SQ than automatic cars. fyi...
Wrong. stop throwing the new guys off with retarded statements.

I drive an SUV. And It's just as complicated to achieve SQ in my car as it is my SUV. To say all SUV's **** for a SQ install is wrong.

Sounds to me like they dont know what they are doing. I am guessing this Tweeter store is like best buy or circuit city? If so they take it to a local car audio shop. They are more professional and should be more knowledgable then them guys at tweeter. Those polk audios should sound pretty good.

hey hey hey easy on the CC bashing! I happen to work as an installer at one! Some of us actually know a thing or two....others dont have a phawking clue and wont listen...

a car is an acoustical nightmare, i can't imagine that theres that much difference between an SUV and a car...

and manuals are way better for sq, the bass bounces off the clutch then the fly wheel and hits you right in the face... but the car/suv has to be rwd
