Not sure what everyone is talking about. Those woofers can take well over 1000RMS and put up decent numbers, at least for the price that you pay for them.

If you care at all about accurate bass reproduction, though, forget it. All they're good for is high-tuned ported enclosures.

I have a fried that hit 150db with two of the 12" woofers. I sat in a demo when he was only getting about 146db. they didn't sound all that great, no real definition at all.

What you reccomend as far as subs? I am looking for 2 12"'s. In high school, and am trying not to spend over 250$ for the subs? I am looking for good sound and quality, but again am on a budget.

about how much are the alpines? they hit hard and sound good? Looked at the price and if they are better than mofos, they are cheaper too.

Get two Phoenix Gold Rsdc's. They get pretty loud and sound good doing it.

What about the entry level DD 512? I am totally impressed with a used 1010 in a spec built ported enclosure that I just received.

Anywhere from 1200 - 2000 watts will make them move. I run a pair of the previous generation. For the price, they are hard to beat.

So if i get 2 alpine type r's with 500 rms each, and a hifonics bxi 1606d amp tied in to both subs, how many rms will the amp be putting out total to both subs? I ask b/c it says 1600 @1ohms and 1100 @2ohms. What is the difference and how do i make sure it is using 2 ohms? THX

depends on if you get dual 2 or 4 ohm R's

if you get dual 4 ohm R's you can wire the amp in parallel to make it a 1 ohm load that the amp see's. If you get the dual 2 ohm R's. You can wire to .5 ohm (which I dont recommend daily) or 2 ohms. I would go with the dual 4 ohm woofers and set your gains accordingly.
