Are Focal TN52 tweeters REALLY worth $200?

These tweeters cost $200+ brand new. What are opinions on whether they would be worth it in a 2-way active setup being fed 110w a piece?

I do tend to like metal tweeters, and I do like an "in your face" tweeter sound. Would a pair of these be worth the price?

That's a tough one. I would go over to the diymobile audio site, those guys test a lot of tweeters.

I had an older Focal Utopia set with those tweets, and they are good, but I don't know if they are a best buy. When they originally came out though, the diy home audio guys were using them, so they had a good reputation, at least at one time. I would also visit the home audio forums like madisound and parts express and find out what "the flavor of the month" tweeter is.

If I were going to go active, I'd probably get the cerwin vega tweeters.. they are a really good bang for the buck... damped metal dome made by the same factory that makes MB Quart, I believe... but sold at a reasonable price.

If you have space, maybe look into a tweeter which has a chamber behind the dome, or a large format/home audio tweeter... might be able to get a better tweeter or save money. Fosgate had an "X" series tweeter which had an optional chamber and optional phase plug for customization. But there are so many tweeters out there, and so little time!

Depending on the xover point if you are looking for a good value in accurate drivers one of these could be the answer... focal has some nice stuff though don't get me wrong I'm just a stickler for value.
