On the focal website they talk about to never purchasing their speakers on ebay, and had a link to a seller that was selling them. they stated that they were fake, and usually most ebay sellers that have them will be fake couteirfet ones! so is that for all companies? are they people make replica version of these speakers? please help out!!!

First you talk about Focal and then say you want Infiinity...I would stick w/ gettin' focals over Infinity any day of the week...

And no most retailers on ebay are authorized dealers, you just have to find them. You buy from them you'll be all set and they won't be "fakes"

it depends. i can have a real item and then choose to throw it on ebay. some of these ebay stores maybe shady. i personally don't like dealing on ebay.

I would avoid Focals on Ebay right now.

i would say that for the most part, car audio on ebay is real... with that being said, i mean doing some research first, such as feedback, etc.

Buying Focal on ebay right now is something to stay away from. Big problem with Focal fakes.

Focal fakes exist because focal is a relatively "high end" brand with high end price tags, so when a person has an opportunity to buy it at a small fraction of the cost, they'll jump at it.

However, infinity is certainly not a "high end" product, but more like on the low or middle end of "mid fi", and since it's considerably cheaper than Focal, there really isn't an opportunity for somebody to make a clone, and be able to sell it for much less than you can get the authentic stuff for.

Basically what I'm saying, is that people build fake 69 Camaro Z28s, and fake 71 Hemi Cuda Convertables. Nobody makes fake Luminas and Tauruses.

Cheap equipment makes up more of the market than super high dollar equipment. If one was searching for the "cheap" equipment, and came across two "identical" products from two different sellers, only one was $10 less, you'd go for the cheapest. Plus the cheaper products generally use less "custom" parts, further making them easier to clone.

Heck, Power Acoustik's brand "SPL" makes a JL Audio W6AE knock-off. You can pick those SPL subs up for around $50 each. Strip off some labels, toss a JL logo on there and you could turn around and sell them for $100+ each. Other than a small variance in build quality, nobody would likely be the wiser.

I have no idea what goes on in China, but there's so much crap over there that somebody's probably making fake Volfenhag and Kenford stuff.
