Are 6.5 components that much better than 6x8s? I can get some 6x8s relatively cheap and that way I could get the speakers installed at best buy. (They do it cheap) If there is a huge difference in quality ill just get 6.5s, but I thought id ask. Thanks

Never heard a HUGE difference in quality, but I've always believed sound is round //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Depends on the speakers. I've never seen what I would call a "high-end" 6x8. Usually, but not always, components are made with better quality parts and will have the potential to sound much better than basic coaxials. There are very good coaxs out there, but all the ones I know of are still round.

Are you comparing 6.5" components to 6x8 components?

only difference in sound quality's going to be a bit less distortion with the round speaker, but that's going to depend on the speakers being compared. A good quality 6x8 will still have better sound than a cheap 6.5"

As long as you keep your high pass high enough where the speaker's not flexing itself out of shape (a 6.5"s going to be able to keep it's structural integrity with higher excursion than a non-round) the difference in sound's going to be negligable. And for normal useage, the 6x8 should have more midbass.

eal on the 6x8's I'd get them. If you have stock 6x8's right now, and are getting something a tad better do it. I had stock comp., and got cheap aftm. 6x8's and it still sounds allot better. Also don't pay best buy 35. a set or whatever to do it. I have no audio experience and did it my self. Nothing to it take 3 screws out of pannel pull it off, unscrew speakers, screw new ones in. Just connect the wires to the back of the new ones. Theres a little plug in, you just plug them in.

round tends to be better sound, more natural, 6x8s wouldn't be as good in my opinion, but depending on location, like if it were me in the fronts i would def go with round, if it is in your rear you could go for the 6x8s. i have 6x8s in the rear and ovresize 6.5 comps in the front and sounds good. i may switch to 5 1/4s in the rear though to go round

just my $0.02
