Arc Audio KAR900.1 or Zapco REF 500.1

Never heard of a 900.1 shutting dowm - even at 1ohm barely gets warm to the touch.

Kar 900.1 is a class d though, 500.1 is class a/b. For arguments sake you can run a Kar 1000.v1 class a/b and will get you double the power of the Zap in the same price range. And you are not gonna convince anyone the Reference 500.1 is a better amp compared to an xxk2500 (which is what the Kar1000.v1 essentially is)

powerwise no, but as far as personal preference goes, i will still take a 1100.1 over a xxk2500

and if you have never heard of a 900.1 shutting down, then whoever it is that has them that you know doesnt rail on them hard enough. we harp on our amps for 7-8 hours constantly at full throttle in the heat when we are out on the water.

The conditions on one boat will be different than another, not taking into account the installation and application. I dont really see any sort of valid point you are trying to make. Like loud boats? I believe a company named Arc Audio build the world's loudest boat- you might've seen it on TV, or various caraudio mags..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If he was comparing a Kar900.1 to a Ref 1100.1 i'd be lying if I personally wouldnt pick the Reference. But thats not the case.

Knowing however that a few bucks more in the Kar line you get a mono version of the xxk2500 that is stable to 4/2/1ohm , along with the low thd and high damping...it is a better value for a proven 7+yr old design.

If its a quality amp from a good company, nothing wrong with going after the better watt/per dollar as long as it has the features, and power @ the impedances you need. Specially when it comes to subs, where power will make the most difference.

funny thing is, the boat audio scene isnt really all over the media, so when one pops up, suddenly its the worlds loudest. i have yet to hear it, but if they keep it in modesto then i am only 20 minutes away, but i have heard the wakeboard boat that they sponsored and i have heard the zapco sponsored boat, and arc just doesnt have anything for it. no my point is that no matter the conditions, the arc wont keep up with other amps. the xxk wont run as long as the JLs, zapcos, diamonds, bostons, ppi's, etc.. in the same condition. that is my only point.

and for the 1100.1, you threw out the xxk2500, which i would still take the 1100.1 over that.

You are indeed an idiot.

Are you serious? Damn, thanks for the info!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bowdown.gif.b85b23b82970bd22fb6b549c3392f016.gif I'm really interested in the 'etc.' part though. Could you please elaborate? Thank you oh wise one! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bowdown.gif.b85b23b82970bd22fb6b549c3392f016.gif
