you would need a new alt for a 16v setup.

I'm sure that the AQ can get near 2500 at 1ohm since it is decently underrated. Besides, 2200 and 2500 is not a huge difference

You're going to set the 2200 for 2400 watts? Why? The difference in dBs for 200 watts at that point is minimal. Why push the amp harder than necessary?

I'm not sure if this is the actual theory, but this is what I was told. It makes sense though, because this process leads to the idea that double power = 3dB increase, which is an accepted idea.

New power - 2400

Old power - 2200

Divide them - 2400/2200 = 1.091

Log base 10 of that - log(1.091) = 0.038

Multiply that by 10 - 0.038*10 = 0.38

0.38 is the theoretical decibel gain from increasing from 2200 watts to 2400 watts.

Not worth it straining an amp.

weeelllllllllllllllllll....

any idea how one of these aq 2200 would run at .5ohm (.35ohm dcr) at around 12v? it will be stock 120amp alt, d3100 in the trunk a few feet from the amp, 1/0 and chassis ground.

what kind of power could i expect out of it? and how would this handle this kind of beating daily?
