Aq2200 power huuuungrreeeyy

running my aQ 2200 in my 01 silverado with a optima red top up front and a data safe 56 AH battery in back, voltage drop into the low 12s, didnt think it was this power hungry. holy hell.. this is just with one run of 0 gauge to the back and no big 3 yet cause im waiting on terminals, but ****.. guess ill be listening to rock the next few days. lol

 
Doesnt really matter what size the stock alt is. The manufacturer doesn't put in bigger alts than what is necessary just for shits and giggles. it just matters that it is a stock alt and your stock electrical probably consumes a good 60-80 % of it I would certaintly do the big 3 as quickly as possible and maybe a run of ground from the front to the back

It actually does matter... I have a stock 90a alt with good battery and big 3 and my friends trailblazer with a 150a alt and no batt/big 3 has less dimming than me on more power. Your alt is not ALWAYS utilized in SUV's alot comes in to play how the power is used like 4 Wheel Drive, Power Steering, AC, Electric Windows and all that jazz as long as you have all that off you will see more than your average 90a alt would.

but if your small 90 alt car came with AC Electric windows and all that jazz and you had it off you would see the same gains

In theory I suppose but in real world a bigger alt makes a significant difference even if it's stock.

thats where im lost..

i dont have power ANYTHING,2wd, i barely use my A/c and when i do its on low.. usually ride with the windows down.

 
Do the big 3. I can get quite a bit of power out of my 2200 before my voltage drops and im running an 80A stock alt and a batcap 2k under the hood with 2/0 for the big 3.
