Amps: AQ20
$1799 each shipped
The AudioQue 20 amplifier is a no compromise, all out, high performance wattage producing machine capable of making more power than we can measure. The amplifier circuit is based on years of high power research and development. The AQ20 can power full blown competition vehicles, outrageous street bass machines and any other application from the minds of deranged type A personality disorders.
Our years of R&D have been focused on improving efficiency and durability of amplifiers in the SPC( Stupid Power Classification ) spectrum. We have developed power supplies designed to extract maximum power from real world battery voltages, our Low Voltage type power supply. This design has been taken to a new level in the current 20 amp, our most efficient design to date.
We have garnered a great amount of information on the effects of amplifier abuse via competition stress. The main problem areas have been over engineered, vibration control, power supply ripple, output ripple and overall abuse by desperate, last second, battery drained Hail Mary’s.
The AQ20 uses the largest mosfets, 32 x (TBA)amp devices and output devices, 32 x (TBA)amp devices, available. To feed these hungry devices, the 20 uses 8 power supply transformers and 43,200uF of capacitance.
The PCB is supported by three rows of thru-bolts plus the side rails to eliminate as much vibration to the circuit components as possible. The Mosfet and output legs are hand soldered to handle the extreme current demands.
Power supply connections are handled by 3 sets of 0 gauge connectors.
Of course, two AQ20 amps can be bridged for BRPC (Beyond Retarditt Power Classification) applications. We’re sure someone will run 4 of these on one sub for CRPC (Complete Ricockulousness Power Classification) applications. Systems that used to be run with 10 or more amplifiers can be simplified by replacing them with a single AQ20. Be sure that the vehicle’s electrical system is still geared for the 10 amps, you’ll need it! It takes power to make power and the 20 can make a lot of power. If you don’t have a mega-charging electrical system, don’t bother. Just to give you an idea, at 12v you’ll need 2050amps to feed it.
All AQ20 amps are bench tested, then run for 3 hours and re-tested before packing. We re-test the amp again before shipment from our location. All AQ20 amps are guaranteed to be in perfect working order. There is no warranty on competition amplifiers, that’s why we test them rigorously.
All repairs are the responsibility of the owner. If you don’t know the ins and outs of your comp system to the finest detail, this isn’t the amplifier you need. Changing amps doesn’t make world champions, knowledge does. The AQ20 is built with no compromises and uses the best of the best parts along with hand assembly.
Guaranteed Function and Quality Control
This AQ20 amplifier has undergone quality control scrutiny at every step of production. Each board is hand inspected after wave solder and output devices are soldered by hand.
After the PB is fully loaded, the circuit is checked for proper function. The next step is final assembly into the heatsink chassis and pressure mounting the power devices. Each amp then goes to bench testing where pre-amp functions are tested and power output is tested at 14.4 Volts.
After bench testing, all AQ20 amps are ran continuously for 3 hours on 1 Ohm resistive loads.
The AQ20 amps are tested again in Oklahoma City on 1 Ohm reactive loads to ensure 100% function and eliminate the possibility of shipping damage to the circuits. We guarantee the AQ20 to be perfectly functioning before leaving our facility.
We do not warranty competition products. We have designed the AQ20 with the rigors of competition in mind, the best and strongest parts are used along with years of past experience driving over engineering of critical stress areas. The AQ20 is designed and built without compromise, to deliver the strongest amplifier possible.
Application Notes
The AQ20 is designed to run 1 Ohm stable. When two pieces of AQ20 amps are strapped together should be on a 2 Ohm load. This is the long term load the AQ20 is designed to operate on, driving loads below this level will increase the demand on the amplifier and may lead to diminished life span, damage to internal parts and possible failure.
The AQ20 will draw very high current from the battery source, it is capable of drawing over 1000 amps of continuous current. Failure to supply the amplifier with proper current may lead to diminished life span, damage to internal parts and possible failure.
Driving Low Impedance Reactive Loads
Some users will want to drive the AQ20 into low impedance loads in SPL competitions. It is not advisable to partake in this type of competition without advanced levels of experience and knowledge of SPL system design.
Driving higher than 15.5 volts
Some competitors may wish to modify the amplifier to enable using higher voltage than 15.5v. This modification is not done at the factory and must be done by the user. The same knowledge applies for over voltage as well as lower impedance.
Competition enclosure design when coupled to the class of vehicle combine to a complex impedance curve. The amplifier sees a widely varying load that changes with pressure created with the vehicle.
THERE IS NO WAY TO ASCERTAIN THE PERFORMANCE OR EFFECTS OF THESE APPLICATIONS ON THE AQ20 amplifier. We, nor anyone else can verify, deny or predict the outcome of these applications.
A competitor must be able to measure the power delivered in a SPL system, the current drawn, the impedance rise, the amplifier peak voltage, amplifier peak current, the minimum battery voltage maintained and a host of other measurements in order to operate equipment of this sophistication.
If you are asking about how low a load the AQ20 will run, you probably don’t know enough to use the amplifier.
Small errors in judgment can result in catastrophic and expensive mistakes.
